Putnam County YMCA Opens Columbus Grove facility

COLUMBUS GROVE – January 2, 2026.

The Putnam County YMCA took another step in expanding access to health and wellness by celebrating the opening of its new Columbus Grove satellite center in January.

The doors are officially open to members, and a public grand opening is planned for January once remaining equipment and signage have arrived.

The Putnam County YMCA invested about $800,000 in building renovations and new state-of-the-art equipment. About $350,000 of the project was funded through contributions and the remainder was funded through YMCA resources, according to YMCA Executive Director Aaron Baumgartner. The new facility features fitness equipment, a pickle ball court, locker rooms and showers.

Columbus Grove community partners were recognized during the ceremony, including The Union Bank Company and Mercy Health which played a significant role in bringing the new location to life. Representatives from Mercy Health’s Columbus Grove Family Medicine office presented the YMCA a $12,000 donation during the event.

As the Columbus Grove satellite center project wraps up, the YMCA is already looking ahead. Fundraising has kicked off for a future expansion of the Putnam County YMCA facility in Ottawa. The YMCA is working with Technicon Design Group to finalize the scope of the project. Plans call for the addition of a designated walking track, pickleball courts, commercial kitchen, conference center, and other spaces to better serve members and the community.
