Michigan company acquires Gilboa Quarry, plans investments

Full Tank LLC, Midland MI, is the new owner of Gilboa Quarry.

“We are very excited about this acquisition. Especially through these times where people, in general, are so anxious to get out and spend time outdoors,” said Andy Silverman, operating partner. The facility will continue doing business as “Gilboa Quarry”.

The owners will share their improvement plans in an upcoming Zoom call. Included are a dive shop, state-of-the-art Nitrox System, an additional compressor and 6000psi bank system, staging area for divers, more parking and outdoor showers. A beach will be added this summer for family and friends of divers who want to swim. A future phase of improvements includes more camping and RV space added east of the quarry and a new bathhouse. To accommodate guests, a new on-line registration and payment system will be implemented by June. Guests will be able to pay for air tank fills, camping and dive shop purchases using a bar coded wrist band.

The clear water, submerged attractions, aquatic life and training platforms have made Gilboa Quarry a staple name for divers from around the world, something Silverman credits to former owner Mike Williams saying he brought Gilboa to where it is today.

The Full Tank business partners have listened to the ideas of the diving community for years and are taking those ideas to heart. “It is our intention to continue to build Gilboa and take it to the next level,” Silverman said.
